Recently, a new attack on Apple products has affected the MacOS environments. This attack is called EvilQuest (TheifQuest). How it works is; when executed, it replicates itself by modifying other computer programs and inserting its own code. This truly makes EvilQuest a real macOS virus. It will encrypt all your data in any of your macOS environments connected on the network at your office or home.
Attackers are going after any and everyone that can be an easy target; this is including macOS users. For many years, macOS was thought to be virus free and no one wants to attack macOS because there are not too many users compared to the Windows OS in the world. Sadly, that is not the case anymore and we are here to help.
Here at PacStates, we have partnered with some of the best cybersecurity companies in the world. My job is to make sure to lock down your network and secure your business to prevent attacks like this from happening. This is best effort due to the ever-evolving threats of Article intelligence (Super Computer) running the attacks from a far. Attackers always go after the low hanging fruits; meaning if you are only using a firewall and not protecting the workstations with the right software then you are the low hanging fruit.
With SentinelOne product, which is our main endpoint protection software for our clients; they have created a decryptor that will allow macOS users to rollback their files after an EvilQuest attack. The best news about this is it allows the end user to avoid paying the EvilQuest cyberattack ransom.
